To be honest, I was impatient that it was going to be a 3 day course, so much time away from work. I thought 'eh, one day should be more than enough!' But I was so wrong! There's so much to learn about this role, so much involved in this work.
I've learned where a Team Manager (TM) fits in the structure of the National Federation, that the TM is in charge of the entire games campaign. A huge responsibility as we have to start the planning a long way before, organize many different aspects, and co-ordinate many different people. There's a misconception that the TM just has to book the flights and then cruise at the Games. But the work isn't even done when the Games are finished.
I hope to be prepared to be an effective and capable TM for out Team to these Games. That I will have the skills and knowledge to support our athletes and help them to be their best selves.
I like how practical and hands-on it is. That we got to hear from many experts who have actually LIVED the I formation being presented. That made the course interesting, relatable and a transformative experience.

"I didn't give it too much thought. Figured it would be usual logistics and planning. Honestly did not expect it to be this full on and involved.
I have learned so far that Team Manager is responsible for so much, all to ensure the best possible performance of athlete and team. Go Team Samoa!
I have definitely have a better understanding o

I have definitely have a better understanding of what's involved, the role and responsibilities of TM, how they fit into the structure that includes athletes, coaches, National bodies and SASNOC.
Trainings have been hard work but fun. I enjoyed the real life experiences shared and I am impressed with how thorough the course material is. Lots to learn so good to have some things to refer back to."

At first, I thought okay 3-day course jam packed…INFO OVERLOAD hehe. But I also knew that in turn I would gain a clear and concise understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Team Manager and hopefully get a certification once completed.

It has equipped me with confidence and newfound knowledge in the overall role of a TM. As a High-Performance Coordinator at SNA I work very closely with Team Managers on the logistics and general team preparations of the National Team, in the event that the Team Manager is unable to attend our Federation has the confidence and security that we have a representative who is prepared to step in.
I enjoyed THE VIBES lol from the energetic dance breaks to the group conversations and interactions I thoroughly found the training valuable. Having an ACTIVE and KNOWLEDGEABLE pool of educators and leaders Master Educator Nynette Sass, Ex- Executive Officer Oceania Regional Anti-doping Natanya Potoi, Sport Assistant Tagifano Denks Soonalole-Sam Chong and the SASNOC Team these are the people that have been involved either as Athletes, Administrators, TM’s in past sporting events and have had first-hand experience in these spaces.
I would 100% recommend this course to other Team Managers and believe that it should be a mandatory requirement for all federations. The role of a Team Manager is pivotal in ensuring that all facets of the team preps are met and successful from the “Design phase” to the Dissolution phase. If TM’s do not get the proper training the role can be quite overwhelming, this course helps to set the foundation and equip people with the proper skill training for the role.
